Looking Great by Having Fun with Colors by Jane Chau
What does color say about you? This article will cover tips on how you can look great by having fun with colors.
One psychologist has done some extraordinary work in projecting a person’s entire personality profile by merely asking him or her to list eight colors in order of preference. Color can be very important in setting style and mood. When choosing colors for your wardrobe, it is wise to consider your coloring, complexion and hair; but your personality should determine the intensity of that color.
Most people who tend to favor one color do so not because they believe that it’s their perfect signature, but because they’re too lazy to experiment with other colors and combination’s. If you find yourself locked into just one or two colors, challenge your habit.
You can look great by having fun with colors! Once in a while, try a pattern including a color that you’re not used to, even if it’s only a scarf. Wearing a different color is a sure way to create some excitement.
Ideally, one should wear a balance of lights and dark’s, solids and prints. Dressing in solid colors is easiest, but don’t forget to wear an occasional print for accent. What’s important is that you find the colors that make you feel best, that make you glow. Some faces come alive when surrounded by clear, bright color; others become washed out and need help from softer colors.
Here are more tips on how to look great by having fun with color. By putting a different combination of colors together, you can come up with a totally different effect. Why not try electric blue and lacquer red, burgundy and rust, or pale banana yellow with jade green? They evoke different responses, don’t they?
In a two-color outfit, the balance is generally more pleasing to the eye when the darker color is worn on the bottom. If you’re wearing cream colored skirt with a black blouse, you can balance your outfit by placing a lighter cream color on top – a matching cream jacket, or a cream neck scarf with tiny black dots. Always remember to balance the weight of the fabric against the intensity of the color.
For beginners at any skill or sport, there are always rules to make it easier. Follow the basic patterns of clothing, and as soon as you feel more comfortable with them, you can start to break some of these principles and get away with it. For now, take it one step at a time.
If a woman is not ready for the status that her clothing proclaims, then the clothing easily wears a woman. The irony is that a person’s fears, inadequacies, and self-doubts are never as apparent as when she is attempting frantically to be something that she is not. Do not dress beyond your role, or you might become lost and slip back several steps. Dress just one step above where you are now, but let it be fun and comfortable. By enhancing your look slightly, you’ll soon be ready to take another step forward.
